About Vintgar Gorge

Vintgar Gorge

Vintgar Gorge, located just a few kilometers from the famous Lake Bled in Slovenia, is a stunning 1.6-kilometer-long canyon cut by the Radovna River. The gorge showcases steep rock faces up to 100 meters high and provides visitors with dramatic views against the backdrop of pristine nature. The trail through the gorge, mostly composed of wooden walkways and bridges, follows the river as it winds through cliffs and cascades over rapids and small waterfalls. The gorge was discovered in 1891, and due to its popularity, an accessible path was constructed shortly after to make it a must-visit site. Visitors can enjoy the rich biodiversity along the gorge trail, spotting a variety of plant species and birdlife native to the area. The trail ends at the Sum Waterfall, Slovenia's highest river waterfall, offering an exhilarating view. Vintgar Gorge is particularly popular among leisure hikers, nature photographers, and those looking to experience its tranquil beauty and fresh air.
